Vlad Maistorovici studied violin at The Yehudi Menuhin School with Natalia Boyarskaya and Lutsia Ibragimova, at the Royal College of Music in London with Felix Andrievsky and at the Haute École de Musique Lausanne with Pierre Amoyal on a Soloist Master degree. He deepened his understanding of chamber music with Bruno Canino at Fiesole Music School Florence and has had influential performance masterclasses with Boris Kuschnir, Anna Chumachenko, Gordan Nikolich, Ivry Gitlis, Ida Haendel, Zakhar Bronn, Ferenc Rados, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Lera Auerbach at courses such as Verbier Academy, Keshet Eilon and others. A faithful performer of the masterworks of the past, Maistorovici is known for balancing traditional repertoire with innovation at major venues and festivals, such as South Bank Centre, Musiekgebouw Amsterdam, Salle Flagey Bruxelles, Studio Ernest Ansermet Geneva, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Romanian Athenaeum Bucharest, Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Conservatoire, Kaufman Centre New York, Verbier Festival, Spoleto Festival, Enescu Festival, with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, European Union Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée, Campos do Jordao Festival Orchestra, New European Ensemble of The Hague, Young European Strings Camerata Bruxelles, Sinfonia Cymru Cardiff, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Nouvel Opéra Fribourg, Estonian Sinfonietta, Bucharest Radio Orchestra, under the baton of conductors such as Neil Thomson, Clement Power, Jonathan Berman, Jonathan Bloxham, Michael Wendeberg, Thierry Fischer, Gottfried Rabl, Baldur Brönnimann, Gabriel Bebeșelea, Radu Paponiu, and many others. A violinist with “technical assuredness balanced by interpretive willingness to push boundaries that can, and often does, make sparks fly” (Seen and Heard International), he has inspired, in collaboration with orchestras or as part of the London-based Mercury Quartet, over 20 new works by composers such as Mark Anthony Turnage (who dedicated Romanian Rhapsody to Maistorovici), Jonathan Cole, Mark Simpson, Steven Daverson, Charlotte Bray, Edmund Finnis, Laurent Durupt, Diana Rotaru, Dan Dediu. His love for the music of rock band Queen has led him into the crossover genre with QUEENClassics, where “As bandleader, Maistorovici cuts a kind of Stephane-Grappelli meets-Brian-May figure” directing “classic songs, superbly arranged by Maistorovici” (Wales Arts Review). In 2024 he was commissioned to compose the mandatory work for all competitors of the George Enescu International Violin Competition. In 2025, Maistorovici was awarded the Romanian Academy Award, and in 2026 he was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is also a winner of numerous awards, among them the Golden Medal of the Berliner International Competition, The Tillett Trust Performer Platform, Young Concert Artist Trust and Remember Enescu International Competition. Vlad Maistorovici has given performance and composition masterclasses at the Royal College of Music London, Lilla Akademien Stokholm, Dartington International Summer School, Geneva Conservatoire and Bucharest National University of Music. In 2015 he founded vibrate!festival with pianist Diana Ionescu, an international event that brings together world-class innovative classical artists, reaching out to new audiences through eclectic programming and cross-discipline projects in alternative spaces.

“The special guest of the concert was the well-known Romanian violinist and composer, Vlad Maistorovici. The concert wanted to be an argument for Europe and its common values,
starting from the cultural ones. The program incorporated reference works from the Romanian repertoire (composers George Enescu and Bela Bartók), European repertoire (composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), as well as a musical premiere for the Netherlands, the composition signed by Vlad Maistorovici, ”Transilvan Concert”, a spectacular rhapsody on Romanian themes and a tribute to the Romanian medieval melodies.”

Berg, Messiaen
"The first half ended with the trio arrangement of the second movement of Berg’s Kammerkonzert, which provided violinist Vlad Maistorovici with a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate his musicianship. His tone was rich and elegant, and was complemented by some beautifully sensitive piano and clarinet playing. Berg creates some stunning colours from this instrumental combination, and the work has a clarity of texture which came through well in this performance.
And so to the Messiaen, a performance which has so much to praise that it was disappointing that more of the residents of Croydon chose not to hear it. (…) The final movement, Louange à l’Immortalité de Jésus was superbly played, with Maistorovici creating a stunning tone, full of rich expression. This was rapturous performance, raising to the heights in both pitch and passion.”
